Personal Journey
May 18, 2017

I came to Canada and did not speak english. My family and friends back home were not super enthusiastic about me leaving China. One of my first purchases back then was two english dictionaries; one small dictionary for when I left my place and one large dictionary so I could study at home. I would purposely go to a bus stop and try to talk to people coming and going. I could tell some people would get scared even though I could not communicate properly their body language said it all and I did not blame them but on the other hand I was not going to sit at home and do nothing. Step by step, I taught myself english and I worked 60 hrs a week and after some stability I enrolled in Power Engineering. I worked four jobs to put myself through school and the one thing I was not expecting was how hard it would be in Canada but my pride would also not let me go back to China with my tail between my legs. I did it though, I did not know one person, I did not understand any street signs, I washed endless amounts of dishes, lived in beat up basements and somehow graduated from school. So buying a home was nothing short of a personal journey for me.

I bought a comfortable two bedroom duplex and rented the other room out. I took the good with the bad in life and you could say I made it.
