Lets put it like this, I bought all of my homes on emotion. After battling bankruptcy and being declined by a bank I was not very optimistic about buying a home. Regardless, I walked into a show home and decided to restart my life. The girl sitting in there told me she could get me approved and said the show home was for sale and if I got approved I could buy it. I didn’t think I would get approved so I said sure! I bought a 1370 sq.ft. double attached home for 182k and it was a piece of garbage. The home was so poorly insulated that my sheets would freeze to my master bedroom walls. We sold that home just before the boom and took a small loss but we wanted out of the home. It makes me sick to think that the people that bought our home from us made a boat load of money during the boom, easily a couple $100k. But hey, that's life. We moved into our second home and during the boom we had people knocking at our door to buy it for well over what we paid for. I have learned many lessons in the homes that I bought in my life and my advice would be to do your research.
